It’s not just babysitting – It’s a large job!

“Such an eye-opening and thought-provoking listen. For safeguarding reasons, our guest Arlene from CPSH couldn’t go into detail on stories and examples of why her job is so needed..but knowing that our industry is a breeding ground for exploitation, you don’t have to think too hard to realise why Arlene’s work is of paramount importance.”

Episode Description
We’ve all seen child actors in tv, film and theatre…but there are whole processes, jobs and a lot of work that goes into making sure kids working professionally in the entertainment industry are kept safe and are handled accordingly.

The guest for this episode is Arlene De Cruz who works to safeguard children all the way from casting through to wrap. She runs professional training for chaperones and works hard to make sure productions work to the expected standard when employing actors who are underage. Listen to this interesting episode to hear why it’s so important for children to be chaperoned correctly, how to become a chaperone, what can happen when safeguarding isn’t done properly and the risks around working professionally with children.

Arlene and her chaperones have worked on projects such as Bridgerton, Game of Thrones, Peaky Blinders, Captain Marvel, Everybody’s Talking About Jamie (film), Top Gear, and so much more!
